Mississippi Nights was a compelling, moving story about two brothers separated by tragedy and reunited by forgiveness. Even though I skipped part of the first chapter because of my squeamish and tenderhearted nature, the rest of the book was moving, and I enjoyed the story and growth of the characters. The plot moved along smoothly, and the principle of forgiveness was strong and triumphed at the end of the book. What I liked: The characters were strong, with believable and likeable characteristics, and the details of the background were vivid and interesting. Healing from forgiveness and the grace of God were strong and really added to the story. And, of course, I loved the budding romance between David and Maggie.
What I didn't like: It bothered me that two men with Christian testimonies fought so openly in front of others and flashed hand signals that are more associated with the world. All Christians are not perfect, but it made me a little uncomfortable to see it displayed so openly. I'm glad the brothers reconciled at the end.
Overall, I gave the book four and a half stars and would highly recommend it to others.

I loved this book, I was so impressed with the depth of the characters. I am an avid reader an it is hard to find a book that I am completely absorbed in. It wasnt the average love story where you knew the ending, I laughed and even got mad at the characters at times. Beautiful work that I recommend to any one looking for a good read! Also very proud to know the author!!!
Loved this book! D.M.'s characters are very real, and she deals with the tough subject of alcoholism without shying away from it. Maggie was one of my favorite characters. Her penchant for all things pink, and her sweet nature balanced with a tough backbone was the perfect fit for David. I also loved the healing journey this book took you on, and the story of forgiveness for not only those around you, but yourself and ultimately God.
I enjoyed this book tremendously. It was a story of faith, struggle with addiction and the importance of family. The characters were relatable and "real."
I loved the way this author captured the gritty part of trauma, family relationship issues and yet still gave hope throughout. Many people struggle to use both in a book, and this one captured it all. I loved the firefighting part of the story, and it reminded me of Chicago Fire with a Christian face on it. I hope this author writes more books like this one.
Wonderful story about the Boyette brothers pulled apart by tragedy. Firefighter David Boyette's character is strong and likeable. The reader feels his pain as he tries to rebuild his life with the support of his family and especially his brother Jeremy, who stands behind him despite the grudge between them. A sentimental story about healing and grace. And of course a happy ending as David finally leaves his past behind and finds true love in Maggie Goddard, a beautiful Christian woman looks beyond David's mistakes and sees the man he really is. Ms. Webb has written a great story and fun read!
I am new at writing reviews but I have to say this book caught my attention with the prologue and held it completely to the last page. The pain of losing his fiancee and thinking his brother didn't try and save her broke David and he fled. He wanted nothing to do with his family and God until he realized he wasn't really making it on his own. He came home with many secrets and with so much guilt he didn't know how to ask for help and didn't think his family could love him if they knew. The love and help they gave him when they found out made me cry. The love Maggie showed him was amazing and healing. She loved him unconditionally and that had to have freeing. His interaction with the little girl Poppy was beautiful. I would highly recommend this book and I have found an author I really like.
Mississippi Nights is a true to life experience. You live the problems along with the characters as they battle their demons and learn how to love and forgive. Also there are lessons we all can learn from of how important family is. The two brothers, David and Jeremy, have to come to terms with what is seen as wrongs committed against the other. The bond of brothers is almost severed through misunderstandings and resentment but Ms Webb does a great job of bringing them together.
